whyified, Welcome

Got the road, not getting the GIANT lake. Shadow is an interruption, trees/bushes frame and cover up your subject, your subject is a fraction of blue, centered, under a nearly featureless sky. I like the double yellow line. Well placed. Overall good idea, you may need to rethink how to present it.

Thank you. I see what you mean by not the GIANT part. Unfortunately, I didn't get to show you how big the lake is in this photo. I thought the shadows on the road added something, though.

I think without the shadow and a more dramatic sky it would be a nice shot. I actually like the impression of the road thats not seen going on till you end up in the lake! I have been on roads like that before.

whyified,

If the title were "Giant tree crosses the road," that shadow would be killer. If you want us to race down that road to the lake, the shadow is sort of a speed bump. There are just too many similar tones here, and sizes. Tree, lake, bush, same size. Clouds in the sky, a boat in the lake, a bicyclist on the road, evening sunset, something extra needed to happen to give a spark to the photo. Your "Sunset . . . " on the other hand is fantastic.

Alright, great help. I guess it's a more of a "you had to be there" thing, since I was all worked up about a different view I had seen where you could see the lake for miles, and I was going up a hill and saw the lake in my rear-view mirror. Had to stop and shoot it. Just my emotions, I guess. Thanks.

whyified,

Hardest thing in photography to convey to others is an emotion, especially the same one you intended. Keep stopping and shooting, and feeling. You're welcome.
