Default Portrait shot

This is a candid portrait I took from my wife. I somehow like it, but it may be because is my wife so I seek opinions from people not married with her.

i like the b&w for this one. the pose almost looks intentional except for the movement blur in her hand and hair. all around good job

nice subject. that aside, the pose is quite nice. original, even. nh7tn is right about the blur, however. upon first glance, I thought you'd applied the orton effect to the photo, but it appears to have a general softness. I recommend accentuating the softness, or trying to sharpen up, that is to say, put your image at one end of the spectrum or the other.

Nai no Kami,

Being not married to her, I can say the photo is thought-provoking because the eyes are not so much looking at what the hand seeks, but have more of an inward-sensing kind of appearance. I really enjoy the photo while covering up the doorway on the left. No way to separate your skills from her beauty. You have conspired to create a lovely photo.

Thank you all for your encouraging comments. I concur it is an unusual pose for a portrait; that's one of the things I like most about it. Thanks again.

Just to add color notes, the "doorway" is actually a painting and I'll be thinking about the overall softness/sharpness of the photo.
