Default First go at paying "head shots"

Would love to get some feedback from you guys on this headshot. Funnily enough, BigCrustyApe ended up shooting most of them, but this was one of mine.

Overall I think it's a solid image. Good angle, focus, exposure. The grey's seem to override the photo though. I would shoot in front of different backdrops to see what colors offer more contrast. B&W photos are tricky.

Lighting looks good pretty good (are there shadows under her eyes? Could be nitpicking), eyes (my favorite thing in portraits) are sharp and you got that catchlight. Her outfit works, not distracting. My only problem is the background; it's a bit busy, esp. to the left.

Yep - that darn background We got to using a large "printed on canvas" Banksy that we turned over to the white side as a background for the later shots.. there may be a touch of dark under the eyes.. (we used a smaller banksy as a reflector - goes to shop to buy portable reflectors!) ...was a tricky spot to shoot and with the lovely london weather we were trapped in a 10' by 10' off white room with some harshish overhead lights.. great eyes though! yay!...

edit: the make shift reflectors here...
Long shot..

I would try cloning out those distracting bits on the left - that black line and light polygons there - it would help bring the attention back to your subject. Maybe try reconverting to b&w and playing with 'red' filter strengths to soften the skin a touch and killing the background?

Love the B+W. Background would be nice with more of a blur and the tip of her hair is missing. Beautiful girl.
