Default Bright Night

Well, here goes my first request for feedback. Hit me with it, I'm pretty thick-skinned and don't care how harsh it may be as long as it is gives me something productive I can take with me the next time I'm out shooting photos...

I think it's very nice. A good picture of what is there. But I think it would be awesome if someone was sitting on the ground int that pool of light, maybe just under the left branches of the tree. Maybe meditating, facing away from the camer. Or something like that. That would make a really neat photo. But you did a good job capturing what is there, without adding anything to it. Feel free to ignore me entirely, I am not a good enough photographer to give technical advice; I just "go from my gut" as Stephen Colbert might say. Keep up the good work.

For my taste, the tree isn't saying anything, just breaking the great horizon of city lights. The grass could go too, for that matter. I would have gone and stood at the edge of the water and concentrated on the sky (i really liked what you did with it) and the skyline.

it needs a specific subject, as it is, it isn't really a photo of anything.

Great colour in the sky, although it gets a little dark for my tastes on the right.

winterminute, Welcome

Maybe you said it best in your intro: instead of "shooting photos," find some specific thing to record as a memory worth returning to time after time, and that you would be excited to share with a stranger. I like the lone tree idea, there's just a lot of competition in the shot from other things.
