It's a little flat as far as the lighting is concerned. And you've got a weird mix of tungsten and daylight or flash. The picture is mostly yellow, but then there's a small blue-white highlight. Since you're in raw, you might try to pull out some of the blue from those highlights.

Well, if it is meant to be creepy, it is an excellent photo! The lighting adds to the feely of a creepy crawly spider. But if you wanted to focus on the spider and NOT make him creepy, then you'd have to have a little better lighting to get rid of the shadows. But I like it as it is.

Your photo was originally 240dpi because of your camera. Some cameras shoot pictures with different dpi. It was automatically converted to 72dpi when it was posted on flickr because on the internet 72dpi is the standard so flickr probably converted it for you.

ike,
Turning your camera sideways would have allowed you to get all the legs in. Isn't that what a spider's all about? And lighting choices in post will make-or-break the final look. Depends on what you want.

mediaphile - I think the highlight is because of the t.v, what do you mean by flat?
The lighting is a problem because there were only overhead bulbs (tungsten) and he was at the top of a wall below the ceiling. Gnomeskull - I was going for a creepy look, thanks, Plouie - Thanks, thought thats what it was, but i wasn't sure. Jiminy - problem was, i had no room to manouver without disturbing him as he was at the top of the wall below the ceiling, Will give the lighting another try in post later on. Thanks, ike, |
