Default Baseball

What could I do to improve this? Would cropping help?
I already sharpened it a little and did a slight color correction.

hmmm, i'd say a faster shutter speed woulda been good here...
also, if you had the option to zoom in more i think i woulda preferred that shot

otherwise, it's a good shot, i like it the diagonal lines draw your eye all over the picture.

I took some other photos that are zoomed in on the pitcher, but I liked this one since you can still see the baseball over on the left.
Here is one focused more on the picture. Can't tell if I like it in portrait or if I would have preferred landscape. I suppose I could crop in more on the pitcher as well. What do you think?

(We were sitting in the "cheap seats" in the upper deck - not much I could do about getting closer to the action)

While you have gotten some suggestions on how to improve the "next" shot, I think you are asking what can you do in processing this one. If you don't mind changing the shape you might crop out everything that is just slightly above the ball vertically - perhaps starting out just below where the thirdbase foul line hits the left side, this draws more attention to the ball in mid flight.

Not the best image since it is just from a screen capture, but you get the idea:

Nope. We were in Detroit. I live across the state so we usually make the trip once a year. So far they have won at every game we've been to. Yea!

Only wish I could have gotten better photos. I know the rule about no tripods... but I've been thinking, I wonder if a monopod would pass?
Plus this year we sat behind two guys who were fairly tall when seated (which meant I had to stretch up to get most photos) and they couldn't sit still (which ruined a great photo I got of a player batting - it would have been a keeper if the guy wouldn't have strayed in front of me and cut off half the bat and a leg.) Oh well. They also took several photos with a camera phone and held it in my line of site for quite some time. Hoping for better seats next time.

kirbinster - I was thinking about that idea. It would give it more of a "panorama" feel, I think. I will have to try that. Thanks.

I like the crop too. I will have to work on that when I have a little time. Thanks for all the input so far.
