WOW! I was going to ask about the settings, but I found them on-line and am posting them for others:

Exposure: 56 sec (56)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 18 mm
ISO Speed: 200

How did you come up with 56 seconds?

I like how the shot looks faded and you see the grass movement (when you make the shot bigger). good shot

I forget if this was a timing the camera had or if it was on the bulb setting. Most of my shutter speeds on shots like this are guess work since I like to use a small aperture. Sometimes I just let it open and don't pay attention. Sometimes I count in my head, I always forget to bring a watch. After I try it out once I see if it should be longer or shorter.

jhpope,

Always use your own best judgement for your photos, after you have the basic tenets. Having said that, I have to wonder about your choice of subjects. The brightest thing is a simple structure with signs, too far to the left. Sticking into the frame next to it, a long uncertain object. No decisive placement of three sections horizontally. Two specks of light that could be city, boats or blown pixels. The entire right half could fall off without changing the look. It needs to be retaken, somewhere else, or in daylight.

It looks like a ghost standing next to the structure. It is very eerie looking. The grass looks fabulous. Cool picture. What are those two specks of light in the distance?

I agree with jiminy's thoughts.

There's something I bang on about - Motivation. I ask myself just as I'm framing a shot, with my finger on the button, "Why am I taking this shot?" If I get a good answer, I'll take it. Otherwise, I won't and I'll look for another shot (might just be a reframe...)

I'm struggling to see the Motivation in this shot - can you describe what you like about it?

Please don't take offence - I don't mean to be rude. Just trying to help... that's why i'm writing this for you

Brian
