epeyton@tampabay,
Thank you. The results are better than expected because these magnifiers are good glass. It does make focussing more critical; viewfinder use is suggested.

Is it the magnifying glass that makes it look grainy? I do like it though! I'd love to try something like that myself if only I had a magnifying glass...

JC,
Can you please explain how did you set the focus using magnifying glass and your arrangements? is this hand held - camera and glass?

Palachandra,
Just as in normal Macro, my Fuji's auto-focus does a good job of finding its mark. But with this extra lens in front, I need to visually focus the last fraction of an inch to get the best sharpness, just moving in or out. I'll get a photo of the glass and camera setup; back in 30 minutes.

I saw a picture of the magnifier on your Flickr account. This result is excellent - it puts mine to shame and all I can claim to have contributed is some inspiration. Congratulations on a superbly executed macro using the idea.

wulf,
Inspiration is where you find it. You really did provide the incentive; I've had the glass since '88. Palachandra, Here it is, and you may find the loupe at a good art store, or online at pgiinc.com
