Welcome TJ

Cloud photography is very hard some times. The setting sun on the cloud is very nice. I would crop out everything but the cloud the tree and part of the house are distracting. Except for the color the cloud is not as interesting as I have seen. I would keep my new camer handy because those clouds come and go so quickly. Look around in your view screen for distracting objects that you made not have been focus on when you noticed the cloud. Good job and welcome back to photography.

The cloud shape and colours are interesting but I think the other elements in the picture look like clutter - I would be tempted to crop them out, giving a smaller but neater result.

What camera are you using?

Wulf

ps. welcome to DPS.

Default Thanks for the advise

Thanks for the advise, noted and will take it on board for future shoots and post processing

As for camera, I picked up the fujifilm s6000FD which I am very happy with so far, but still using the auto modes for the most parts, reading up on how to use manual settings more often

Cheers

Moving further left and back (if possible) would have disengaged the clouds from the roof and tree.

A polarising filter could have helped darken the blue and increased the contrast, too.

Hi - I think the best advice I could give to someone taking up or returning to photography concerns the motivation in taking the shot. As you're about to press the button (if you have time) ask yourself: "Why am I taking this shot?" If you get a good answer, take the shot. If not, don't. Find a better shot where you get a good answer... oh, and only you can say what 'good' means!

This will increase your 'keeper' percentage dramatically simply because you will have motivation built into the image.

Good luck!

Love finding interesting clouds and trying to shoot them.
I agree about the other parts of the photo. I feel if you are not able to get
all the clouds and sky alone it might be a better idea instead of trying to get as little of the surrounding areas might as well let a little more in to the photo and make it a bigger subject. Not sure if that makes sense how I said it but anyways...I like he colors of the sky and clouds. I would clone the tree out at the bottom so you don't lose any of the clouds whispy bottom.
