Love the contrast of smooth feathered parrot against tree texture, any suggetions?

Palachandra,

Having the parrots at right angles means a lot of tree bark. Idea is good, though. If both heads showed, that would be better. There is an unusual red edge to a lot of the shadows, noticeable in larger version more. Even extra contrast does not do away wth all that gray/brown bark color. Just the upper right would make a compositionally better photo. Not a bad shot.

Thanks JC for your inputs. I used 12X zoom to capture these shots but could not end up with much closer shot as that tree was taller.

Here is one more crop of different shot - This is a crop and with low resolution.

This guy has character, detail is better bigger and color is brighter from this angle. Amount of bark is OK, more balanced. Better composition than first one.

Those red shadows would tend to worry me. Any idea what is causing them?

I am not sure about those red edges around the bird. Its there in original also. I took this around 5 PM and day was cloudy.

Palachandra,

In printing, the red would come from misalignment of the plate printing the red ink. If it's happening on every photograph you've taken since these, you might have a fault in your camera.

Here you can see blue edges.

I wonder how come I did not notice that till now!!

Has there been a time when your camera got bumped or dropped? I didn't notice the blue as much as the red, and I don't kmow what else might cause the aberration. Know any friendly camera shop owners?

A year back I dropped it once, but not from much height... After that I took many shots...

I think this is the time to consult sony service station.
