Default The Gatekeeper's Gaze

The Gatekeeper's Gaze

I pass these Iron 'Gatekeepers' on my way to and back from work, and every time I think the same thing, "That would be a nice picture."
So I finally decided to take this photo out of my mind's eye, and put it on screen.

1rst photo
2nd photo
3rd photo in a series.

Comments and Critiques are most welcome.

I think this is an interesting crop, but the amount of green on the right is a bit distracting.

I would like to have a cleaner background, like your second photo of the series. I would try to bring in harsh contrast in the Iron Gatekeeper's head and make it sharper. This will make it look tough and rough and that would emphasize "iron" and "gatekeeper".

Thanks Saralonde. The crop was the main focus of this photo in this case.

As to the 'green' in the back, I wasn't able to get a better angle due to the wall right behind the right horse head. (The one in focus)

If I ever decide to for a second round, I'll try eliminating the green with a different composition.

Like I said, if I ever go for another batch of photos, I'll try manual focus. However I don't have a tripod, neither do I have a DSLR. (A Fuji FinePix S5200) So while I could do better, I don't think I did that bad considering.
