Default Scary Spider!!!

Hi all!
I recently was cleaning the garage and found this black widow. Definitely is a spider you don't want to mess with lol! And also they are not an aggressive kind of spider (Read on wikipedia) its better not to play with them. I took some photos before she was death of course. Hope you like the photo. As always your c&c are welcome! In my http://www.flickr.com/photos/oriolhdz/ account I have 2 more shots if you want to see them!

This is a good shot, the coloured black widow on the whitish background looks real nice and the subject is well positioned. Its far from the phobia that we normally attatch to spiders. Still if I really have to do some changes, I might have increased the DOF (more than F/5.6 that you have), may be set the aperture to F8. This should make it sharper. Other than that, there is a tiny white shine on the body, where the flash has reflected. May be I would have elimited it in PS. Could you try to place it slight diagonally, facing the top left corner?

These are after thoughts, I swear, I could not have done better.

You're lucky because it's not actually a Black Widow but a False Widow. Black Widows have a single hourglass shaped mark on their abdomen. This is a False Widow. You can read about it HERE.

I appreciate all your c&c you made! I'll work on it in next photos I take. I will also try to work the details you mentioned on photoshop.
melanie2457:
Thanks for the info! I had that doubt in my mind because in wiki they said about the hourglass shape, but then I searched on flickr and found similar spiders also tagged as black widows. Anyway, thanks for clarifying and correcting me on the kind of spider it was.

Pretty scary even is not a real widow? hehehe. Hope you like the photo!

I dunno, I guess whenever I take a photo of something, I like to be able to know what it is. So, I was just helping to provide the OP with some more information.
