Lighten it up and add some contrast. I like the forground it would have been nice if you had a boat.

Overall the photo is too dark. There needs to be some lighter greys and also maybe some white somewhere.

As far as composition goes, I like the framing but having a bit more of the ground and the top tree would have been better.

blindjoker,

Scale is yet another aspect of photographic composition. Here is mostly water, a sky 2/3 the size given to water, a corner with some tiny leaves, a sliver of dock, some fringe at the top, and a line of rocks at bottom. Without color or one thing really outstanding in scale, there's just no strong subject.

You might lower your camera to get 1/3 beach, 1/3 water, 1/3 sky. You could zoom in on dock and island above it. Find a fisherperson on the beach. Back up enough to frame more with trees top and right. Or wait for stormy weather.

Hi blindjoker,

You have tried to frame your shot, but the top should have more leaves, it looks chopped off.
There is an overall washout out effect, which has evened out the contrast so much that perspective is lost
You have to concentrate on someting (water, doc or rocks or ?) and make them stand out with focus and contrast.

I guess I am saying the same things as Jiminy.
