Default Costa Rican Children!

I would love y'all's critique!

Do you think this is too dark?

As you can tell, I'm quite new at this, so any help would be most welcomed! Thank you so much!

Oh, I'm really sorry. I'm super new to this and really didn't know. I suppose reading the rules would have been a good idea.
Thanks.

I like the photo but wish I could see it in color to compare. It seems a bit dark but appears they are under a roof of some type.
I think the middle girl twirling the skirt would be the subject more so then the entire group. Maybe if the feet weren't cut off. Nice shot though.

Thank you so much! Well, I don't have the original on this computer right now but I have another one that's in color. And yes, they were under a roof/cover type thing.

I think the B&W is a bit too dark, however I think I would like that photo better in color!

Thank you Aubrey for editing your post down to just one photo. This makes it much easier for us to critique (and you will get more out of us this way too!)

In the color version, the red sashes really stand out, and that's why I think I prefer the color version; although I do prefer the composition of the b&w one. The roof and the angle the light is coming in vs. where you're at makes it really hard to see detail on the faces. Generally, when you have people you want to see faces.

I'm not at all good at PP so I'm not sure if there's a way to lighten things up a bit, but I'm sure someone will come along shortly with an opinion on that...

Thank you everyone for y'all's comments and advice! I am not very experinced in the whole making it lighter without making it look all grainy. So, if anyone knows how to do that, that would be so awesome!

Here is a little tweaking I did in Photoshop:

Here is what I did to lighten it is Photoshop CS3:
1. Convert to Lab Color (Image > Mode > Lab Color)
2. Edit brightness using curves tool (Ctrl+M)
3. I didn't change the curve, I just moved the top and bottom points more toward the center.
4. Convert back to RGB and save.

Before/After
