could you post up the one that's in black and white. I would love to see it. I like the steam, especially with the black train as the background....I wonder if B/W would make the pic look more timeless, as if it could have occurred at any time in history.

I like the B/W best although the other one is good. Sometimes B/W just brings out things that color does not.

i like bw better but i'm not a huge fan of the crop/composition - feels a bit tight - it would have been great if you could have gotten this wide angle from the right with this image in the prominent foreground the train trailing off in the background. or at least gotten the guys feet on the platform

I went with the tight crop for a reason. For a good number of railfans, its just about the train. But some also try to bring the human element in. like taking a picture of a person taking a picture of a train, to show what their form of photography is all about. and now that you mention it i did cut his feet off. oops. lol. but i think if i would have backed out on the zoom anymore, i would have lost the focal point of the shot, which was the conversation.
