looks like a cut up cork to me.....I have no clue. I never seen a fruit like that.....

Pomegranate indeed. The slightly less modified version can be seen a few photos down on my flickr stream.

i like the slightly less edited one better but this is one example of beyond-reality photoshop color editing that i actually thinks really works! the sharpness really helps also.
