Default Iceage Cobra - Live shot

DSC_6118_small

Perhaps better cropping in this one? Subject is a little off center - enough to be distracting? How about the background? Any post production that could have made it better or good as is? I sort of feel like I want a solid blue sky background. I honestly don't remember if there were clouds there or if that's sun glare through the lens.

I like the shot because of the capture of the hair in motion while being able to see the singer's face at the same time. It was difficult to hit that right moment.

Please be harsh if you want to. Thanks!

Well I don't really know what to say about the background, but I really like the headspace in this shot. It leaves room for his energy, in his hair and voice, to 'move' up through the frame. I really like it, well done!

Default Much better

I preffer this shot. Cropping is very good. Shows a great deal of emotion and feeling. Do you remember how you shot it?

I'm in the market for my first digital SLR and have looked at the D80 and comparable Canons. What made you choose the D80?

Man, fast replies here! Thanks for the feedback. The camera is a D50. It's my first DSLR. I picked it cause I was cheap. I had a Nikon N65 with the kit lens and I figured I could pick up the D50 (cheapest Nikon DSLR at the time) and use that lens on it. Camera and lens ended up getting stolen, so I bought another with the D50 kit lens.

For the record, the lens I like to use the most now is a Nikkor 50mm/1.4 I don't know if the glass and construction is that much better than the kit lenses, but I like what seems to come out of it. I also like not having zoom. I was using it too much as a crutch. the fixed lens forces me to move around more.

Good capture, nice movement with the hair. I do find the shirt a bit distracting, although you may have had no control over that. Good album leaflet or promo shot for the band.
