Default Never Ending Lavender

This is one of my favourite shots ever. I'm just looking for some comments/critique on how it could have been improved.

Very Cool! The only thing I can think of, would be to get a higher vantage point & shoot downwards at the field. That's not always possible though. You did a pretty good job of it. Nice Work!

It's a great looking image as is...but I can't help but wonder what it would have been like if you had centered the dirt path directly in the middle and given me about 80 % sky 20 % purple field...used a polarizer and really brought out the deep blue sky with highly contrasting brilliant white clouds...just a thought though =)

Great composition and detail. It looks as if thats the edge of the earth since the plans are nicely detailed and they end abrubtly with the great looking sky.

beautiful - i agree there should be slightly less sky and more lavendar. i found that the horizon was actually off horizontal by about 0.6 degrees. i also feel like the sky upstages the lavendar a bit b/c its so bright - so i would lighten and desaturate it a bit - here's a quick crop, straightening and sky desaturation...

Thanks for the comment! I also took a few shots looking down the hill, I didn't like them quite as much as I felt that the surrounding scenery took away the feel of the shot.

You can view the rest of the set (including some shots taken looking down the hill) here.

With the composition on this shot I was focusing on the rule of thirds, I shall give 80-20 and centered a try on another image! I did actually use a circular polarizing filter on this image, the sky may not be quite as vivid as it should be as I am just learning how and when to use it.

The only post processing work I did on this shot was the RAW conversion, you can tell as I didn't even level out the horizon!

I agree that the sky does seem to distract you from the lavender. I always have trouble cropping images, even when something is taking your attention away from the main focal point I find that you lose part of the feel of the image.

I do like the crop and quick processing on the sky, although I can't help but feel that it takes away some of the drama from the photo.

...

Thank you for all your comments and criticisms they are much appreciated!

I love shots like this,I think that if redoing the shot a polarizer would bring more balance to the color of the sky . as is a sq crop to give an angle is worth a try IMO

I love the shot is there a way you could adjust the sky vs. the field it seems to be over powered by the sky color and brightness wise.
