Default Candid Cat - Lost In Thought

Hi! [after quite some time. ]

Got a worthwhile shot [IMHO] after a long time.

ISO 100|F4.5|431.4mm|1/30s - No editing in any way.

Although I like this shot very much (decent focus, no blur due to shake, and surprisingly, the histogram shows a really tall mountain whose peak I cannot see, right in the middle. ), I feel that there is something missing from it. It really needs something in the background, i.e., in front of the cat, doesn't it?

I was just about 5-6 ft away, although behind a gate/door. If I had opened the gate, (s)he probably would've fled. Just a couple of minutes before I took the shot (s)he was staring down at another cat on the ground. That would've made a nice shot from the back...with blurred cat in the foreground.

Opinions, suggestions, criticisms welcome.

I really don't think it needs anything. I looks like the cat is looking slightly upwards, like something in a bush.

The exposure looks so perfect that I would not even like to photoshop it at all. But, I agree with you, a blurred suggestion of something interesting to the cat, would have made the shot more attractive. I have taken so many of shots without much of a story that I can easily identify the difference it will make.

There's a huge tree, actually.

Nice...so many things came to mind, but this probably fits the photo. Looking Up - both the cat, and my photography skills.

Great shot (I love the color of the cat). The only thing I can think of that might help my interest a bit would be if I could see the cat's eye; even just a part of it. It would give me, the viewer, something to focus on. Of course, asking a cat to angle himself differently isn't going to happen, and I realize you're sneaking around behind him so as not to disturb him, so I don't fault you at all. It is a wonderful photo.

I love it!! It makes you wonder what the cat is thinking.
