Default Whiteout backdrops

Hi all,

A couple of years ago we had some studio pictures take of the family. These were done in a white painted room and were in a very casual style. We played with our boys while the photos were taken. Plus a few more staged type shots. The results when we saw them had the background just plain white. The results were very good and quite striking. So, since having the camera I thought I would have a go at the same sort of idea... let me know your thoughts please.

Sam

This was taken in RAW format infront of a cinema projection screen and then the exposure and vibrancy was boosted in Lightroom and then the Backdrop whitened in Photoshop.

Thanks for any comments.

Cheers

Tim

well I would say zoom in more when doing your selection. Also hair is a hard thing to select most of the time. I would just erase out the little bit sticking up......it takes some time to get it right but once you do the possibilities are endless.

My initial feeling was the same as xxpinballxx, but, on close observation of a larger size in flickr, I realized that it was not a cut and paste job, since you were very close to the screen, the camera flash created a harsh shadow on the left. This is a very standard problem with single flash and character close to the light background. You have to be try to eliminate this as much as possible or use another bounce flash to prevent the shadow formation.

Very bright colours, sharp focus and action poses do look good in front of white background. You can do more experiments.

Cheers,

Hi, thanks for the comments. Yes, I was using just the single camera flash... unfortunately this is all I have at the moment.

I was unsure of what to do with the shadows, to leave them as I did, or to process them out too. I will experiment some more.

Thanks for the input.
