I'm not sure about the crop here - maybe a square would do a bit better, but i like the offset look here. Touched it up a bit, cloned out some bright stuff in the background, and did some other more creative things here. What do you all think?

xysmas,

A very knowledgable young lady posted an interesting view and a link about placement of a subject within a frame. Offset is OK; where the offset puts subject is not, according to the various opinions in link:

The coat blending into background? Unflattering.

With the upward direction of her stare, I think I would have gone for bottom right on a portrait orientated shot. You could do that with cropping but ideally it would want a bit of extra space above her head.

Or put it in a series with similarly framed and processed pictures (I love the quality of the colour) and then the consistency will start to overcome the nagging feeling that she ought to be looking into the frame or not have so much "empty" background on one side.

Wonderful idea on the series... I have a bunch of shots of her at this time and it might do well. Thanks a ton there.

This was absolutely an experimental pic - maybe a bit too much indeed. This was rather impromptu, as our original plan had been waylaid by the sudden downpour and there was only so much rain she would endure before we called it quits.

Hey xysmas,

Did you run this through high-pass? And then desaturate a bit?

I like the feel of the shot.

Thanks

Kind of - I overlayed a B&W render over the color background, then used Lucisart on sculpture mode and masked the effect to her face only.

Lucisart sculpture is quite similar to blending a layer or two of high pass at low pixel width and sometimes i prefer the high pass + blend combo to lucisart.
