SmokedIronMade,

Nice try to capture the thorn texture and pattern.

I would like to isolate natural pattern of thorns and to emphasize on more on it rather than to include everything. Diagonal orientation of the line would be more interesting.

May be you or others could have done better than this (I am pretty much new to post processing), for me tighter crop appeals good. My apologies for editing your work, if you dislike I will remove this immediately.

Well, I will try that next time. BTW, I don't have any problems with your editing this, I'm new too and trying to learn, anything that helps is good and your editing looks better that the original to me.

The tighter crop is definately better. I think you could go even further a little bit MAYBE with the crop. Also, changing the tones should give it some more feeling of the danger.
