Default Tonemapping, Abandoned barn

Just bought my first DSLR an Eos 350D!

Since that gave me the ability to shoot in raw mode, I could try tonemapping.

my opinion, It turned out pretty nice.

whats yours?

Indeed it did!

I quite like this shot, and can't think of anyway to improve it. So a bit of role reversal: may i ask you what software you used to create tonemap this shot?

Default Great Sky

I like the sky certainly and the composition.
One suggestion - isolate the roofs and make them more colorful. Especially the red side. it could be very striking

ehmm ofcourse i used photoshop a bit.. but only for the text i think.. cant remember doing any major changes there.

@marc: hmm nice idea about the red roof... I'll see what i can do, might as well bright up the righ bottom corner a bit.

THNX!

I really like the colors and textures in this. Can someone give a quick explanation of what tonemapping is, for us newbies? Thanks!

Nice shot...love the sky and enjoy the XT.
I would like to see it without the chairs. They seem too clean to go with the abandoned feeling. really nice shot though.

^^ I'll try that.. If i see the time cuase im on vacation from tomorrow on, for 2 weeks.. Hope i can get nice weather, when im back.

@annie:well Tonemapping.. It's something what looks a bit like HDR. HDR is using - lets say - 3 shots with different lightnings, to create 1 picture, with all areas (light and dark) well litten. for example fotograhing in a dark room with a window.. gives you a problem cuase either the window is overbrightended or the room is underbrithened. THat's when you use HDR.

Tonemapping is something similar, but tis with only 1 shot. But is has to be a RAW format. There's a program (i used photomatix) which can create the hdr effect out of 1 RAW file.

hope you know what i mean??

thnx for all your comments.
they've been helpfull.

suggestion from myself here: Replacing the chais with a flower, would that be nice??
I think ima try it.

thnx again

-Floris.
