Can I ask what steps you took in post-processing?

I resized the picture, and cropped it some.

I noticed there were some irregular splotches in the background I should black out.

Before I took the picture, I sprayed the flower with water droplets.

I thought that you had applied an effect -- this is going to sound a bit blunt, but on my monitor, it looks either like somebody added a lot of noise deliberately, or like it was shot through a window screen or something.

Is this a scan maybe?

WriterBarb,

This was a beautiful rose; is the photo OOF and the edit to make it less noticeable? Some sharpening techniques might have brought out more of its color and shape. Is the rose where you could reshoot?

This is more what I hoped to see -- is it more what you intended to shoot?

rose

I ran your photo through heavy noise reduction; hoping you don't mind.

I didn't take it through a window screen.

I may have done something with the noise on my paint pro X. I honestly don't remember. BTW, what is noise?

Thank you I like the color and the way the rose opened. All my roses this year have aphids and aren't as spectular.

What is 'OOF?' I'm learning my way around my editing software, and don't exactly know how to sharpen very well. My eyes aren't the best in the world so often I depend upon the 'quick fix.'

WriterBarb,

Think "no signal on your TV" or "snow" as it was once known. Edit programs can simulate it; dark photos often contain it in shadow areas.

OOF is Out of Focus.

I don't mind at all. Does reducing noise sharpens the picture?
