Default Portrait session

I managed to organize a portrait session just for practicing.
Let me know your opinion.

Other picture of the session can be found here with some learnings and technical details: Practicing portrait photography

There appears to be some camera shake/motion blur of some kind in this picture... Also I think a little wider crop would look better giving some more room at the top of the frame. Some of your other shots from the session on your flickr page look nice. The story you posted was interesting.

photonovice, Welcome

Skintone is good, pose is very different and flattering to model, lighting is basically well done (I might add an overhead light for a natural look to face shadows/shapes). Pretty good shot.

I'll add that the depth of field effect is nice too. Like those greens.

Default Thank you

Thank you for your comments.
The blur was rather caused by the model's movement than by camera shake as I can recall.

I woodn't say a thing was wrong with this, or any of the other pics of her.

I'm such a sucker for a pretty blond.

I just read the longer piece.

Thanks for writing that up; it is helpful and informative, and the pictures are terrific. One quick thought for you -- can I suggest that you head over to the Strobist blog, and spend some time wandering around?

The blog deals with lighting on a budget (speedlights) and tackles a lot of things that came up on your shoot (like balancing flash and sun). I think it would help you become an even better photographer.

I totally agree.

As for the photo - the only minor flaw is the bit of movement at the top of her head. I see a tiny green cast in her hair as well, but otherwise, great treatment of a pretty model.
