I like photos without frames around them.

About composition, it depends if there was an interesting area to the right of the cliff's edge.
In that case I would put the cliff's edge at the left third of the photo.
I think the photo would gain a bit more with the colors being more saturated.

Too much frame, not enough mountains.

Can you post a bigger photo?

Yes, that's better for viewing. Good capture of a beautiful spot.

We have all complained about the frame -- I don't think it helps, and it just cuts into the size of the photo for viewing.

Your photo looks a bit soft (posting settings is always helpful so we can figure out what is going on), though it could be compression and sizing. I think the foreground is still a little bit dark -- trees especially. Last, when I look at the sky it seems posterized to me -- this happens when you push your photo too hard in post-processing, to the point where your software/computer can no longer create adequate intermediate shades, and resorts to abrupt, blotchy colour transitions. Again, this could be the compression resizing, but a lighter touch in post can prevent this.

Well that explains alot, especially the softness.

Next time give us that info up front. Obviously you didn't spend much time composing this photo, which is OK -- but people viewing the photo didn't know that, and at least one commented on your composition.

I now understand better that you must be looking for help on the post-processing you did, which again is fine. It helps though (and this is for everybody) if you give us some hint on what you are looking for by way of feedback.

i would probably be quite annoyed if I had devoted ten minutes to thinking about your photo and critiquing your composition, only to learn that it was a quickie out the window of a moving car.

On post-processing, if you are doing layers, try putting sky and land on different layers, and using a mask to combine them. That way you can work on the lightening of the land without further affecting your sky.

PS -- And hey, you have placed 14 threads in the Critique forum (great, enjoy the work), but you have yet to post in anybody else's threads. I know there is a bit of natural "who am I to critique somebody else's shots" feeling in all of us, but you gotta start somewhere. Give it a go, tell somebody else what you think of a picture. Give back a little.
