I took this first photo while hanging out the car window along a highway. My husband was driving and there wasn't a place to pull over (about 40mph).

The second photo, after driving up and down the highway, we found a business parking lot that was guarded. We pulled in up to the guard gate and I snuk onto the grounds to take a couple of photos.

Please let me know what you think of this. What could I have done better, or what didn't I do?

It was such an awesome site, I hope I captured this in the photos.

Wow. That is an impressive wreck.

I found it interesting that your two shots, taken I am assuming from more or less opposite sides of the building, had such different tones.

On the first shot, the sun was to my back (the car). On the second the sun was coming from the top left of the photo.

Question

Do you think either one of these photos would look better in B&W? Should I crop in on the first photo?

I think the first photo straighten and perhaps a little off the bottom cause all that grass is not really doing much.

Second photo again straighten and possibly add in a sky that is not blown out or best if you can reshoot from a different angle getting that tree out of the way.

Question

OK, I tried your suggestions. I like the one photo as black and white. Tell me what you think, please.

I think the first one and the third one are still not straight and also IMO you cropped off too much of the foreground. The second picture looks nice but again that tree covering 1/4 of the building really is distracting. If you could upload the pictures to a photo sharing site like Flickr we can see a larger version and perhaps have more to offer in our feedback. I can only see thumbnails and when I click on the link it only gives me a slightly larger photo very hard to see much detail there.

RexK,

I made the images on flickr so that they are public. I appreciate your feedback. I'm new to photography and am looking for the critique!
Thanks
