Default The Beast before the Beauty.

DSC_2084

This is my first real session with my nikon macro lens. Shot it handheld *gasp* I know but they wanted $15 an hour if I used my tripod. and since I have never been to the butterfly sanctuary before I was hesitant to pay the money just in case there was nothing to photograph.

Let me know what I could have done to make it better or can still do in post. I do see that the tip of his antenna is OOF but I dont know how to fix that... The depth of field is very small. EXIF Data can be found in Flickr this is straight out of the camera. The lighting in there was not very good changes in light from sunny to deep shade. and No flash photography is allowed.

I don't know if it was possible but I think that if you have shot from the front instead of the top of the little animal ( I don't know how to say its name in english ) the photo would have more impact.

hmm.. I see what you mean... too bad I didnt think about that while I was there... I will have to give it a go on my next outing to the butterfly sanctuary. I do have some other shots of other caterpillars where it looks like they are looking at the camera. I will post some up when I upload them. There are some more of my shots under the macro photography forum.
