Default Nature always wins...

This was shot at the Lake Worth Florida pier at sunrise. The Pier was damaged during one of the hurricane's in 2004. Pier broken, sun still risin'...nature alwys wins. I would love to hear your thoughts.

A great photo but why does it look like a sunset unstead of rise? What was your editing process? It seems a little too red/orange.

I had to laugh when I saw the title of your photo - you must have read my "I fought Bull Creek, and Bull Creek Won" post

Talking Pier and Sunset

Howdy,
This is actually a sunrise(I was facing East and that's the Atlantic Ocean) The sun was really beautiful that morning. I have a few other shots from that day if you would like to see them...

All I did in processing the photo was to drop the brightness a little and up the contrast.

Yes, I know where Lake Worth is, I grew up in Palm Beach County and have actually been on that pier many many times. I guess I was never lucky enough to see such a beautiful sunrise (and when I was younger I saw plenty on the beach hehe) Kudos to you for being so fortunate!

singsailor, Welcome

When the contrast is raised too far, you get that green ring around Sun. For some reason, the pier is not in sharp focus. Good framing, though.

True, I may have contrasted it a bit much. I enjoyed the effect it had on the glow of the top of the cloud.

My original settings were:
1/4000th shutter speed, aperture f/8.0, focal length 110, iso 1600
Perhaps more f stops would have brought the pier into greater focas(?) I'm still relatively new...any suggestions?

Thanks

To be honest, I didn't like the post editing you gave to the photo. It's exagerated, but's only my opinion.

Another thing, try not to point your camera to the sun when you can't look directly to the sun. It can ruin camera's sensor.
I think this can be the case.

I think the focus problem is more relationed to the place you've focus your camera than the aperture you've used.
