Default Feeling disturbed

As I was strolling down the mountain trail, beside the bushes, ki cute boy was hanging from the support cable of a telephone pole, his mom, hidden a few yards below was harvesting cardamom. As I walked past, he stopped his activity and the small eyes followed me. I clicked him sitting down and later rewarded him with a chocolate.
The EXIF info are:
ISO200 F/8 1/100 120 mm
The picture was shot in landscape mode, I blurred the bg a bit, sharpened the edges of the clothes and hair as it was getting lost in the bg and burned the lower bushes. In this picture, is there a problem with the composition? Is the lower portion looking chopped off?

I turned the original picture in portrait mode (without any post processing), it looks more focussed, but still something is lacking

I liked the diagonal framing, it was intentional, but I could not bring out the life in this photo.

Please help

This is my second post, till now I got no responses, hey JC, ELAY, Clockdoc, Wulf, what's up? Anything wrong?

I don't know if you saw it, but there is a discussion thread over in General Chit Chat, here, where people are basically saying that the number of posts in Critique has become a bit overwhelming, and that because of the numbers a lot of good posts drop out of site and never get comments.

As for this shot, nice work with post-processing. I think you got everything just about right in the post-processing.

You did cut off his foot, and I think I would have like to see the foot. I have taken many shots, though, with severed feet and fingers -- all you can really do is be aware of it for next time.

As for what is missing, I can't quite put my finger on it. Is it maybe because the boy's face is in a bit of shadow, and therefore the eye doesn't go there?

EL

subrataofkris,

Even we have to sleep a little. We may have spoiled you before with attention, and quick responses. I'll be back in about 8 hours.

(Is title for little boy or how you're feeling?)

subrataofkris,

Insomnia, curiousity, whatever: here's a way I might try to photograph someone's shy eyes:

Thanks JC, now I understand what was missing, brighter face with sparkling eyes and everything else absolutely insignificant. This really stresses on the expression.
Sorry for being impatient. Now don't blame me, you guys did pamper me too much.

subrataofkris,

You're welcome. The activity/mood you're wanting to keep will determine the distance and framing of most shots.

Absolutely our doing, if indeed anyone is spoiled. We'll continue to do our best.
