Default Please critique

I am new to digital SLR photography and have been inspired by many of you on here. Please give me any composition pointers if you get time so I can improve on my next attempt.
Thanks!

Loveley shot - I definitely like the lighting on the petals.

Perhaps I would have tried to get the flower heads into the top third instead, but keep the horizon as it is; the focused head is somehow too much in center - but none the less, it's a loveley shot.

I think it would have been nicer if the shot was up closer and tighter in vertical format. I like the blue sky in the background and the fact that part of the bottom has some trees showing. Those can still be kept when getting closer. Just make sure the flower only has bluesky behind it and have the green below.

I think a bit deeper DOF making all the flowers in focus and still leaving the background landscape out of focus would have been a real nice shot.
I love these shots of flowers with their head into the sky....really sets the pedals off.

Dave P, Welcome

Try the same thing, with one flower and all blue sky. With bloom at same angle, much closer, you get an arresting image. Since most everything else here is OOF, you aren't losing anything.

I really like the perspective on this shot. I personally like it away from the flowers in this shot, personally I normally would like to get in tight but I feel that because the background is interesting yet simplified by the blur it works out nicely. I would like to have seen it from the other side of the flowers so you could have gotten more of front of the flowers instead of just the one. very nice shot
