Default well, i got one half of "the talk"

Now i just need to get the birds. lol. I forgot i had this. while i was waiting to take a picture, of all things, a train, i saw this bee or wasp or hornet land of the flower and he was sitting perfectly still so i zoomed in and snapped this. what does everyone think. its my first nature shot. Critique away. And props to anyone who gets the title reference with the picture.

napatom2005,

Thank goodness for the American Encyclopedia A-Z, where my "talk" was researched. I was 10. Your wasp is as good as some in the book, and if the white hadn't overexposed, it would be very good. A crop on right and bottom would't hurt. Next time, if possible avoid foreground stems, leaves and buds.

Default Clean up the area

Yep the stem in the front is a killer.

I have found after thousands of flower pictures, that it is a good idea to spruce up the area a bit . Macro style shots magnify all these little details into big distractions

I agree the stem in the front is very distracting, but I daresay that any attempt to move it might have scared your friend away. Try then shooting from an angle that places it off of the center of interest. And try a crop that doesn't place the flower in the dead center.
