Default Orchid experiment

This was my experiment with sunlight and flowers.
I shot this with a Kodak Z650.

That's a gorgeous shot.

From a technical perspective, some might quibble that you have blown highlights (areas of overexposure) but i think those actually work nicely with this composition -- the highlighted parts contrast nicely with the darker bits.

Out of focus stuff is nice too.

If you were repeating the shot, you could try to use some exposure compensation to see if you can tame the highlights -- I don't know that the result would be any more successful, but you could at least consider the question of whether you want to address this technical issue. Some cameras (don't know about yours) have a function where on playback blown highlights blink on the LCD, making it easy to spot them. Again, i like the shot as it is, but you may as well recognize the issues, and make a conscious decision about your exposure.

Hil85, Welcome

If there has to be a tradeoff, either nice backlit color or unblown highlights, backlit is good. If you're on a tripod (not much information there), you may go for a second or third shot, as ELAY suggested using compensation to get an underexposed but unblown copy, that may be used in processing to fill in some light detail. A darker background next time, too, may help get a better reading and result.

Default Thank you

Thank you for the advice. Unfortunately the flowers are no longer there to recreate the shot. I did not use a tripod I use my Kodak Z650 camera that is fairly simple. Yet again thank you for your advice in the future I will pay more attention to the lighting a little more closely.
