Default A Reflection of Nature Part 2

A Refections of Nature 2 rev

This is another shot that I took out on the water... I have followed the advice from the other "A Reflection of Nature" and I have adjusted the saturation and contrast a little. I have also cropped it in a little. Any other suggestions?

If you would like to see the original it is on my Flickr site.

Thank you... I took these shot on the Peel River, near Fort McPherson in the Northwest Territories Canada. Basically 300km south of the Arctic Ocean in northwestern Canada.

That's real bright colours, it looks so real, good job on the saturation and contrast. I would love to see a little experiment on lowering and raising the horizon (I mean either 2/3 sky or 1/3 sky).

I checked your photostream, just 10 photos but impressive composition.

Thanks for sharing

Is is just me, or has the saturation/tweaking in the sky gone a bit too far?

The blue I am getting on my monitor is just too bright.

There are ways of getting deeper colours without using too much saturation, which can be a pretty blunt tool. For a landscape, I would start with local contrast, and then just try duplicating a layer, setting it to multiply, and fiddling with opacity in the 20-40% range. Better colour depth with no risk of unnatural tones.

EL

(And sorry if we are bouncing you around -- more saturation, less saturation -- I just like this shot so much that I think it is a shame to overcook it.)

You should definately use a circular polarizer. I think you'd like the effect is gives.

Thanks for all the great advice. It is really, really appreciated.

Elay... I have PS Elements so I am sure that I can do what you explained but unfortunately it was like Greek to me as I am brand new to post production. I will read through me Manual to see if I can figure out how to do what you explained. Thank you though for wanting to help me become better
