I like your perspective shooting low, but your highlights are all blown. It would be much more effective if you had good detail in the sand in front of the camera.

I like the colors. But what is the subject of the shot? The sand, the boat, or the water?I think you can try some differrent crops to bring the attention to what you are wanting to show.

Using a polarizing filter makes those type of shot very nice. It makes the sky and clouds alot more crisp. IMO

Reellady, I somewhat disagree, I think the general openess and lack of focus on a single item or subject could be the subject in and of itself (if that makes any sense).

Makes sense to me, cause if you look around, there really isn't much to make the "subject" of the picture. To me, the subject is just the warm, peaceful feeling I get.

For me the overexposed sand is fine if thats the effect wanted, but the overexposed cloud is too distracting

i like that it has an abstract feeling to it, of not capturing the entire boat but establishing that it is one, and that it's sitting on the white sand.

it may be just a little bit overexposed, particularly the sand. also, the clutter that lies on the sand can be distracting to the scene, since there appears to be no sense of order among the objects there.

in addition, and this is in my personal opinion, there appears to be too much empty space on the right. maybe a closer shot with the boat to help make it appear larger, and reduce the amount of empty space.

and finally, why'd you choose the title "island"? if i rely solely on the elements of the shot, perhaps "beach" or "boat on beach" would be better. i didn't quite get the feeling that i was on an island.

looks like a very inviting beach, though...

Thank u all for the comments ...

yes the photo is a bit overexposed ..

certainly using a polarizing filter wood make a diference, or with a nd8 for instance

the shot was taken to give that sence of a postcard

the camera does not give more than i take from it, as i said in the first post this shot was taken with a compact camera from pentax, so the using of filters or whatsoever is not possible... as in a dslr

If you remember this movie "blue lagoon", locals Dominican Republic said that film whas shot in that island
