Hi and welcome to the group. Technically you have produces a very sharp image with nice color and tonal quality. I like the lines that make up the background. As for composition, you have a bit too much background to balance the thin, almost vertical, subject matter. The drops are a little hard to 'read' on the dark leaf. You have a good eye, though, so keep shooting. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Gengus_Khan, Welcome

Saw this yesterday, and it just seemed to be such a good example of choosing a subject, distance, angle and background. As clockdoc pointed out, closer will show the overall detail better and bigger. A more angled framing adds some interest, and a less similar color in the background can bring attention to the subject.

I hope the power of illustration is helpful in your next photo choice and that we may help you become the best photographer you can be.

Thanks I see what you mean. The back ground transforms the shot. I'm new at this, so it's good to get positive remarks and hint's to improve my work.

...............
Cheers

R. E. Smith,

This is my orphan Adobe PhotoDeluxe program, about 8 years since it was updated, and discontinued as a product. It's available as a lone CD (ebay, $40). It's very easy to learn, so you're encouraged to start right in on even complex changes. I also use a tablet and pen by Aiptek (about $30 on sale) without which most detail could not be achieved.
