Default An Estonian sparrow

This time it is not a stork - its a sparrow!

On my trip to Estonia we were visiting my wife's grandmother in the village Sindi near Pärnu. And while my wife and her grandmother were talking I walked in the garden where a small bird - a sparrow - was teasing me - It sat nice in front of me - and as soon as I pointed the camera it flew away. It did that a couple of times - but at last I caught the bird with a shutter speed of 1/400 and an aperture of f/3.5!

What do you think?

Bird

That's a very nice picture of the sparrow. I like the details in its feathers and the feet. The more I stare at it the more 'plump' it looks. Just like they seem in real life.

I'm noticing some purple fringing though. If you have access to some image editing software, give it a go at removing them. I think you can also use levels to tone it down a little as the histogram seems to be heavy on the light side.

Good job on capturing the bird though. They're very quick to notice cameras pointed their way.

Nice shot, Bo! What camera/lens did you use to capture this little fellow? Looks like the depth-of-field was just right.

Thanx for the comments

I made the picture a little brighter in picase2 (I would have liked to have seen the eye) - that might have been my own mistake.

I used my canon powershot S3IS - it's works very well under bright conditions (it was a bright day). And it gives a nice controllable DOF when the zoom is on max.

It is almost flying out of the screen, brilliant capture, more so because of powershot S3IS. I have rarely seen such perfect DOF. May be, you can reduce the blue and increase the yellow a bit. I looks like a cloudy day.

Great job!
