Default Overwhelming sadness

I spent much of the last week in Austin, TX, and as it happened, our hotel was right next to an enormous old cemetery. The last morning, I finally got the opportunity to walk around it with my camera -- fabulous place! Many interesting statues, carvings, meditation spots... but this statue of a young woman has haunted me (so to speak):

Sadness

I took a number of images of her (another is here), and I'm wondering whether I've managed to capture the deep emotion she emanates, in both the composition and/or the treatment.

Thoughts?

Very nice, Dazyl! I am love b&w shots when they suit the subject and I think this was a good choice. Nice and sharp with emphasis on the face, the leaves add texture but do not distract. I like the mossy growth on her as if she was so overwhelmed by grief for so long that she did not care. Yeah, I know I'm giving an inanimate object emotion, but it tells a story.

Dazyl,

Brilliantly done! Nice capture of her emotion... Love the monochrome and color tone. Kudos to the artist.

Thanks, Saralonde and Palachandra, for the feedback. She (the statue) was so lovely and melancholy -- I really wanted to do her justice.
