Nice coloring/saturation - did you boost it a bit though? Also, just wish the other antler was lit up.
Also, maybe crop a little darkness off the right to lead the eye right to left, in the direction the fawn is looking.

BTW, do you live near Echo Lake in NJ? I caught these two there on Sunday...

I boosted the lighting a little (but not the color) as they were in some significant shade in the woods even though the sunlight was streaming down right where they are.

I believe that is about 20 miles away in Passaic country, I am in Morris county. I like yours, but it looks like you were a little far away and the focus is a little soft.

(My first reaction was to make a joke based on the (mis?)perception that New Jersey is not exactly a haven for wildlife. But I decided not to.)

The colour and contrast in this shot are fabulous. Nicely shot, and you showed a nice light touch in your post as well.

Gorgeous deer! Love the coloring!

The dark (blob?) in the bottom left corner is distracting to me. I realize that cropping it out would not give the fawn anywhere to look, but I wonder if something else could be cloned into that area? Greenery maybe?

I'm very new to post-production (and dSLR photography in general!) so I end up knowing what I'd like to fix but not exactly how to go about it. :-/ Learning though!

It must be fantastic to have such wildlife in your area. I've got birds, but have never seen deer! They are beautiful. Great catch

I am sort of in the same boat as you in terms of experience. I have only had my dSLR for about six weeks and really know almost nothing of post production - but I want to learn. If you want to see animals take a look at some of my other posts, we have lots of them here.
