Default Idle cottages

If you want to just sit quietly and watch the clouds pushing through the forests, creating a thick blanket over the mountains, then I felt these cottages were wonderful. On a damp day, with almost no sun, I just photographed a rememberance. Such overcast conditions make the colours so saturated.

Please let me know your views

Thanks,

subrataofkris,

Very moody look, just low in that left corner. If there were more of the cottages showing, even though making them smaller, photo would seem more complete.

For me, it feels as though we're not seeing enough of everything in that scene. I'm sure there is a whole bunch of other stuff in that area that will suit for a better image. What I'd like to see is more of those houses and more of that fog. Perhaps a wideangle shot would have suited better for that situation.

I am basically agreeing with jiminyclickit.

I think it has potential to make a very nice panoramic shot.

Thanks guys, here is another view.
I added another cottage (PS) and cropped less on the left, but, the fog seemed to be without details. So (taken a cue from PLouie) I changed the canvas size and made it more wide view.

Does it look any better?

Is this a composite of images? If it is you might want to change the scale of the house that is most to the right to give a better sense of depth and perspective since it appears to be a duplicate of the middle one. Look up some Digital Matte Painting tutorials too. It should help.

It seems like you have a lot more of the scene from what you said about cropping less and changing canvas size. Perhaps it would help if you showed us the whole image.

Was there a specific reason why it was cropped so much? A good thing to think about when you create a composition is to make things clear. Why something is the way it is. My photography instructor taught us about this. What you want in the composition should be clear to the viewer. If it's not clear it might look like a mistake whether it was a mistake or not. So if there is a reason for the tight crop it should be apparent. Right now, it might look like a mistake. One might think you forgot to bring your wide-angle lens and only had your telephoto with you and the only way to get both the cottages and fog and trees in to the same shot was to sacriface part of the cottages and the rest of the scene.

What I meant, and maybe what jiminyclickit meant was that the image looks as though you zoomed in too much with your camera/lens or cropped the image too much. I get the urge to want to know what's beneath those cottages. What's it sitting on? Is it on a hill? Is there a bridge to the right to get to those houses?

Hi PLouie,
This scene does not have much more to show, in the 2nd one, I removed the left crop. But, unfortunately, there is noting at the bottom of the cottages to suggest where it stands. Actually its in the hills and I have framed it from below. This is not a composite of images, I just added one cottage. I realized after reading your's & and JC's observation, that the picture looks incomplete. Thanks for showing me the difference between mediocrity and good.
