Even though I could not able to see full detail in this small version, this shot is nice composition. I like the direction of morning light falling on the stalk and the curve orientation. Have you tried to shot this with different angle? Like tapering stalk tip away from your camera... In my opinion this could have added some depth to your shot. Just my opinion, I may be wrong also!

No, I did not try that angle. Thanks for your suggestion.
On a different day, at a different time, when the rains almost killed the entire bloom, the same flowers huddled together for survival. Here's another shot.

DoF seems OK, as noted hard to tell at that size. This would look wonderful with sun shining through it, too. If you plan it well (you might have to pluck the bloom), you can have the black b/g too. Backlit brings life to the white. Here it has a necklace display look to it, nicely done.
