Smile Cute Kid...

I would have been tempted to contrast this picture a little heavier, but I love the results... awesome picture! Keep up the good work. As my own rule, unless it adds to the photo, I clone out logos on shirts.., Just personal preference, but I think in this case that the logo is slightly distracting... Which works if you are advertising for a company... You may have noticed that I am a marketing agent for ellipses dots... I overuse them all of the freakin' time, and I will make a conscious effort to stop... Starting now.

DaFool, Welcome

You would have to work hard to get a bad photo of the little one, so basics and a playground will get you started fine.

Including all of the hand (and feet if it's a full portrait) will give a better look and allows you options if a crop is necessary.

Eyes have a power all their own. They could raise the quality of this photo just by being open a little more.

Think of background as you shoot. Stop and move if it looks distracting. The lighting and your capture of it here makes this a good shot.

I did think about removing the logo while I was removing all the food stains from his shirt. But it really didn't pull my eye to it.
