Default Cemetery Silhouette

Here is another one of the shots I got from my cemetery shoot. This was late at night...I got the golden glow from some street lights behind the small hill. I had to position my tripod low and just right so the lights would all be blocked out. There was a lot of fog that worked nicely to diffuse the light. I increased the black levels in Lightroom to add more of the silhoutte effect.

Oh, I like this more than the other cemetery shot. The sky has a wonderful glow to it and I like the silhouettes.

I love it - odd how some stones look like chess pieces in silhouette.

They do...I never really noticed that.

This is a really neat shot!

My ever so picky eyes tell me to straighten the horizon a bit and crop a sliver from the left.

The colours are amazing! I think this is a good candidate for your inspirational poster set!

This is my favorite of the group, too. Striking and simple.

I like this one the best of your cemetery series. You mentioned painting with light in another thread. Were you using an LED flashlight? WHat was your process for painting with light? Thanks.

Lee,
I was using a small LED flashlight. With the photo you are refering to, and some others that I didn't post I would just shine it all around the tombstone to illuminate it all around. Nothing too complicated. Perhaps I'll upload a few more of my shots from the cemetery to Flickr and post them on the forum.

*I first got the idea from an article I read (I forget which photography magazine), where the photographer used a large flashlight to "paint" the statues on Easter Island to get some interesting night shots.
