Default On the trail

My wife and I attended a photo seminar at the Alabama Wildlife Center taught by a local professional wildlife photographer. He is totally dedicated to wildlife photography and crammed quite a lot into the one-hour class. One thing noteworthy is that he uses all prime lenses witht he maximum being a 300mm f/4. He stressed that you have to be totally dedicated to be a wildlife photographer (read that as getting up at 'O dark-thirty" in the morning no matter what the weather, be willing to sit in a hot water blind for hours on end to hopefully get one good shot and to be willing to be in close proxility to alligators and snakes.) We were then dismissed to roam the 300+ acres of the Center to get what we could in the 95 degree heat. I took my first shot before ever leaving the pavillion where we had the class. This grasshopper had landed on the map of the Center so I thought it would make an interesting first shot.

95 degrees!!! That would have been it for me. "Okay honey, I got a winning shot right here. Let's go home & watch Wild Kingdom."
