Default Wow...

I think that as far as technicalities this shot could use some work... but as far as subject! WOW! This is laziness defined! It makes me sleepy even! I love the look you captured here, but some different camera settings this could be better. CUTE CUTE Dog you have there, you should be able to get plenty of shots from him!

krystonite,

If he gives you a choice, getting the eyes in the light will make the shot. Fur has no personality and those eyes appear to have some amber qualities, so making a photo more about them will help. And some doggy lotion for his nose.

Great shot. I agree that the eyes and nose make the picture.

Is your dog a chow?

Newfoundland it looks like.....great dogs to photograph. I love their expressions and the dark coats.
I like it just think the eyes are a bit lost...maybe if the animal was a bit more awake....?

Wow - this shot has PERSONALITY! I just want to hug your dog

Maybe get focus on the eyes? I think the nose will still jump out, even with the eyes as the focus.

Gorgeous pupster!

You know your dogs - it is a Newfoundland.

Thanks for all the feedback, guys. I agree about the eyes and am going to try and catch a similar shot in which the eyes are clear.

I had taken this right after I first got into photography, so I was extremely unsure of all the settings and what not.
