Default Decadence

Looking out at the pool from the upstairs window last night, I was struck by the reflection of the room / doorway behind me.

Decadence

Surely a swimming pool in the bedroom is as decadent as it gets?

The colors in the room / hallway were distracting, so I converted this to black and white... but then the pool was less obviously a pool, so I ended up with selective colorization.

Still trying to decide what I think about this shot...

@pinball -- Strange. Yes, I definitely thought that when I saw it on my monitor. LOL!! It's growing on me, I think -- just so very different from my usual.

Thanks for your feedback!!

I agree its definitely a good shot and a testement to how the glass can play tricks on a camera and how much reflections can do for a photographer.
I think its almost an abstract. Have you lightened up the reflection any to see if a bit more detail can come out of it?

I did, in fact, try that. Lightening the shadows brought up more of the room, but it also called a lot of attention to the branches of the vegetation surrounding the pool.

I've attached the original...

This shot is so eerie, it seems almost impossible to me, but I really like it! There's something about the shot that just doesn't let me look away.

Thanks hora and pinball.

I'm traveling right now, but when I get back home I'll have to try to work with this lighting situation some more (now that I know about it), and see what kinds of things can be done.
