I like the composition and the lighting. I would maybe get more light on dad's face, and I agree that more interaction between the two would make it more intimate. As it is, it seems like the baby's loving whatever's off behind dad and doesn't care one way or the other if he's there. Dad looks a little down, too, as his eyes are either shut or downcast.
nice shot, though, and it looks great in b&w. |

I like it! I agree a bit with Sarah about the interaction between Dad and baby. I also find myself strangely drawn to baby's ear (contrast effect?). Baby has an adorable look about her. I love the position of her outstretched hand.

i'll echo what the others have said here in that i like that the shot was done in B&W. by doing this, more emphasis is given to the subjects and not their clothing.
guys, i will go on a limb here in asking what the theme of the photo is, and i guess that only the photographer can answer this one. if it's about the baby, then perhaps the lighting could be adjusted a little bit so that she (did i get the gender right?) is emphasized even more. perhaps have more of her father's head in shadow? if the theme is about the interaction between father and child, sadly, there appears to be little engagement between the two, esp. with his eyes closed. in terms of lighting, a more focused light in between the two of them would've been very helpful.

As much as I love to experiment, I could not make this better. Different, maybe. That said, Montec, if you don't mind, I would like to use the dropshadow-textured mat-black frame design. Nifty.
After going back several times to get a fresh view, I wonder if maybe the baby's so very comfortable with the Dad, the looking-past is trust. Feels like looking in a shadow box where these two live. Impressive.
