Wow...it has a 'horror movie' menacing quality to it with that dark cloud over the top! Nice job! Great perspective, great light, effective shadows...excellent all around! The only thing I wondered was whether there was just a pinch too much sky within the crop on top...you definitely want to preserve that cloud, but maybe try experimenting cropping it down just a bit.

Thanks for sharing and awesome job!

Default Definately a hanger

I love historical romance novels (that's what I call them anyway, my husband calls them trash books) anyway and this looks like some of the places described in those books but better.

Would be proud to hang that on my wall.....

I think that dark ominous cloud overhead is great ...except for the fact its not consistent in the sky....looking back farther in the sky the blue and the clouds are almost summerlike by the lake look. I think if you darkened them in with some editting and made the entire sky ominous then it would create a overall feel. I am a bit put off with the dark cloud or should I say with the bluer sky in the photo. Great angle and I love the castle. Thats just my oinion though Im no expert by far. There isnt alot of blue but enough to pull my eyes away.

Nice shadow detail on the front of the castle. Did you use the HDR technique here? The dark sky adds drama ,and I assume that is what you were looking for, but IMHO the sky is a tad bit too dark. Otherwise and excellent architectural shot.

well I just payed around with the photo and really was way off...i darkened the sky all over and added some shadows and adjusted the blues in curves and still couldn't get what I thought it needed. I think it might have worked with a sky already out there added into the shot but didnt really take the time to look for one. Maybe adding some bluer skies might be a better way.
Have you thought about B&W? I did do that and adjusted the shadows and highlights and it really looked nice. With a black and white double mat and a more modern black or white frame it would look real nice.

the sky is as was. it was taken like that. all i done was bring up the detail in the castle. it rained on and off all day,but never rained for long. its UK weather for you. i look for dark clouds, infact i rather like a dark sky over a bright blue one. nearly all of my shots are that way. steve paxton has mastered that effect so well, and iam by far no where near as tallented as he is. but i do try.

this is more my kinda thing. rather than a bright blue sky

I agree with the dark sky look...Ill take a nice dark one over a clear blue one anyday. I never been to the UK but I have heard stories so I get it..lol! I put it through photomatix and this is what came out of it. Hope you don't mind me playing with it.
