Default Little River

This is just out the front of my place at cronulla, apart from lighting (which i know isnt the best) what else do you think i could have managed to get.

Things that i tried to do was keep the camera unbalanced, capture the small bit of water and blur the rest.

C&C Welcome, feel free to edit the file too from DA and post what you would have done.

I'm not an expert but I think you've got the DOF wrong on this photo. Such a small part of the photo is in focus that it looks accidental.

The sky's blown out (over exposed) and could really do with some detail to add a bit of moodiness - as it is you just have a big patch of white.

Also (and I hate dissing peoples work) the composition really isn't that great either. I think you would have been better off moving to the left a bit and making better use of the water to lead your eye into the photo.

I hope that hasn't all been too harsh - I just think perhaps it needs a little bit more work to perfect the shot.

A photo like this makes me think of tricks like the lomo technique, which deliberately downgrade the quality of the image in order to capture the feel of a cheap camera; it casts a whole new light on the photo and sometimes an okay picture into one that feels much more exciting.
