Both images were shot with Olympus e500. Lighting was difficult as it was in the middle of the day on a hike to the top of a 13,000 foot mountain. But thought they had interesting texture. Since my last post i've been trying to play with layers with no success but am still trying dam it!

I always think its a funny thing that we humans look for human form in other things. This is a great example. There is a definite face staring out from the base of that tree trunk and the second shot is awash with twisted human forms. I could stare at these for hours. If you don't know what I'm talking about, don't worry, I'll continue taking the tablets.

Have you tried either of these in B&W with boosted contrast? I think the first could be a good candidate and maybe a crop of the centre area of the second could work well too.

Thanks for sharing.

Oh yes, see the faces - mmm.. where do you get those tablets?
Agree on the B&W idea - will enhance the textures

windrider86,

Like the original, and now this one, as an older, more weathered version.

Okay, I hope you don't mind but I took the first shot and reduced to monotone, increased the contrast a tiny bit and also added a little sharpening to bring out the grain a bit more. Bear in mind that I only had this small version posted above to work on What do you think?

I dont mind at all. In fact I aprpeciate it very much. That really brought out more detail but i did like the lil splash of color in it tho. I'm awfully new at post production and obviously have a lot to learn!
